At Flemington in Melbourne, richly talented 7YO Japanese-bred entire Tosen Stardom (Deep Impact-Admire Kirameki, by End Sweep) claimed his second top flight success since arriving in Australia when overcoming difficulty in running to score an explosive win in the $2 million weight-for-age Gr1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) for 3YO+, defeating Happy Clapper & It's Somewhat. The Australian Bloodstock-owned Tosen Stardom advanced his record to 7 wins (including the Gr1 Toorak Handicap & Gr3 Hanshin Challenge Cup) and 4 placings (including the Gr1 Memsie Stakes, Gr1 Futurity Stakes & Gr1 Ranvet Stakes) from 25 starts for $3,360,607 in earnings. "That was the real Tosen Stardom today," trainer Darren Weir said. "That's the sort of ability we knew he had and thankfully we've been able to see it today."
