At Doomben racecourse in Brisbane, Coolmore's former Gr1-winning Champion Australian Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) celebrated an elite race success when 4YO Australian-bred gelding Comin' Through (Fastnet Rock-Mica's Pride, by Bite the Bullet) finally delivered on the promise he has always shown when scoring a strong win in the $650,000 weight-for-age Gr1 Doomben Cup (2000m) for 3YO+, defeating stable-mate Egg Tart & Japanese import Ambitious. The well-related  Comin' Through improved his record to 6 wins (including the Gr2 Ajax Stakes, Gr3 Bill Ritchie Handicap & Gr3 Carbine Club Stakes) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Doncaster Mile & Gr1 Randwick Guineas) from 17 starts for $1,675,171 in earnings. Trainer Chris Waller said Comin' Through had been threatening to break through at the top level for quite some time. "He's had a few Group 2 and Group 3 wins and ran second in the Group 1 Doncaster behind Happy Clapper so he's deserved to win a Group 1," Waller told Racing Queensland Webnews. "He was a bit unlucky in the Hollindale when he was pushed three deep and still did a great job to run sixth. I think he's only going to get better..." Retained to race by his breeder Sir Owen Glenn, Comin' Through is the ninth foal to race from the prolific producer Mica's Pride, dam also of multiple Gr1 winning stallion Criterion, Gr2 winner Varenna Miss and Listed winner Silently.
