Little Wych

Little Wych Overview

Lot 1026 is from Brazuca's family (pic: aushorse.com.au)

Bathurst-based Little Wych is a gorgeous 120 acres of hands-on equine excellence. It is this philosophy and, like fine wines, dedication to producing small batches of yearlings with sophistication and substance, that makes Little Wych's 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Draft so worthy of inspection.

This crop will have every chance to follow in the hoof prints of fellow Little Wych stakes-winning graduates Mourinho, Aint Seen Nothin', Molto Bene and Leeds.

The four top-shelf offerings include two colts by burgeoning sire influence and freakishly talented 10-time Gr1 winner So you Think. Already, he has passed on his dominance in spades with the likes of Gr1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference, Gr1 NZ 1000 Guineas winner La Bella Diosa and Gr1 Rosehill Guineas winner D'Argento all on his sire resume.

Lot 1066 is the first So You Think to parade. From Danehill Dancer mare Rebel Dancer, a half-sister to speedy stakes-placed Catbird filly Letmeentertainyou, this page is dripping with both black type and multi-distance aptitude. Second dam News Academy is a half-sister to Gr2 Maribyrnong Plate and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Catnipped. And the family also boasts the quality of South African Gr2-winning Gr1 runner-up Brazuca, his stakes-winning half-brother Mr Utopia and multiple Queensland black type icon Swiss Rose.

Lot 1092, the second So You Think colt offers just as much scope. He's from the smart Snitzel mare Snitzel's Tune, a three-quarter-sister to stakes-winner Hidden Wonder and stakes-placed half-relations Strong Choice and Substation. The family also has the depth of tracing to 3rd dam and Gr1 Caulfield Guineas winner Kenwood Melody.

Be sure not to miss the Nicconi filly on show two lots after the So You Think x Rebel Dancer colt (Lot 1068). She's from the 7-time GB and USA sprint-winning mare Red Opal, a daughter of Flying Spur. This is a family with distance aptitude, with Red Opal also being a half-sister to Italian Gr3 winner Troppo Oca, successful between 1500m-2000m. So far Red Opal has had two sprint winners, indicative of both a strong chance of success for this filly and a quick return on investment.

The final offering in this impressive boutique draft is Lot 1088, the colt by the dual Gr1 winning son of Teofilo in Kermadec, from the precocious Exceed and Excel mare Shiso. Kermadec's first crop are set to hit the track post August next year and have been well received by both trainers and breakers. This particular colt is the first foal of Shiso, a 7-time winner from a family that includes close-up top-drawer athletes like Persian Secret, Cassandra Go, Verglas, Freedom's Light and Do The Honours.
