At Trentham in New Zealand, Wellfield Lodge's 4-time Gr1-winning stallion Alamosa (O'Reilly-Lodore Mystic, by Centaine) celebrated an elite race success when 6YO New Zealand-bred mare Stolen Dance (Alamosa-Songbird, by Black Minnaloushe) left her rivals languishing in her wake with a dominant front-running victory in the $200,000 Gr1 Thorndon Mile (1600m) for 3YO+, defeating Watch This Space & Hiflyer. Connections revealed that Stolen Dance, who is in foal to Cambridge Stud stallion Tavistock, may now be retired after securing a valuable Group 1 success. "She could run in the Herbie Dyke Stakes [Gr1], but maybe this is her last run," co-trainer Andrew Forsman told NZ Racing Desk. Stolen Dance, who hails from the prolific stakes producing family of Gr2 Blamey Stakes & Gr3 Geelong Cup winner The Fuzz, and Gr2 Wellington Guineas & Gr2 Eight Carat Classic winner Kainui Belle, improved her record to 10 wins (including the Gr2 Cal Isuzu Stakes & Gr3 Eagle Technology Stakes) and 7 placings from 28 starts for NZ$497,825 in earnings.
