At Sha Tin in Hong Kong, Wellfield Lodge's dual Gr1-winning stallion Road to Rock (Encosta de Lago-Trewornan, by Midyan) celebrated an elite race success when 5YO New Zealand-bred gelding Beauty Generation (Road to Rock-Stylish Bel, by Bel Esprit) led throughout to score a dominant win in the HK$23 million Gr1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m), defeating Western Express & Helene Paragon. Purchased for $60,000 at the 2014 NZB Select Yearling Sale, Beauty Generation (who raced as Montaigne in Australia) improved his record to 7 wins (including the Gr2 Sha Tin Trophy & Gr3 HKJC Celebration Cup) and 7 placings (including the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas & Hong Kong Derby) from 18 starts for $4,345,075 in earnings. “He’s done everything right from day one, this horse. We saw he was a little hampered in the run last time but today he had the gun run and was able to dictate the terms of the race," said winning trainer John Moore.
