At Morphettville in Adelaide, Coolmore Stud stallion and former Australian Champion racehorse So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) added a top drawer success when 3YO Australian-bred filly Sopressa (So You Think-Hidden Strings, by Weasel Clause) dashed clear and held all challenges at bay to score by 0.3 length win in the $500,000 Gr1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) for 3YO fillies, defeating fellow Victorian raiders Sheezdashing and Miss Admiration. The victory was especially memorable for jockey Harry Coffey as his debut Gr1 success. The Darren Weir trained Sopressa took her record to 3 wins (including the Gr3 Schweppervescence Stakes) and 4 placings from 10 starts for $433,420 in earnings. A $70,000 Inglis Great Southern Weanling & Broodmare Sale purchase from the draft of Bucklee Farm, Sopressa is from dual Gr2 winner Hidden Strings. An ebullient Coffey heaped praise on the filly post race to racing.com, "She was just too good for them, she's an outstanding filly. I was going to win a long way out, but I'm just wary that when she hits the front she looks around and I hate to say it to her rivals, she did exactly that, so there's a lot of improvement still to come."
