  • 2026 Silverdale Farm Vendor Profile

    Thursday, 8th January 2026

Silverdale Farm has been in the headlines this spring as the pinhookers of Gr1 Epsom Handicap winner Autumn Glow (see below) who ended the spring as an unbeaten winner of eight races. The farm, owned by Steve Grant and managed by Rob Petith, is about more than having a good eye for a weanling. The Southern Highlands farm, with cool climate and rich basalt soil, was a dairy farm for generations, utilising the fertile soil and consistent rainfall to be successful there. "Our philosophy at Silverdale Farm is in getting the details right. We set horses up for their life, we educate our horses, so they deal with pressure. We want the basics ingrained, so we can then focus on the one-percenters, the improvements above and beyond the standard," noted Petith. Grant, a macadamia farmer by origin and eventual property developer, owned a share in Group 1 winner Rebel Dane and that inspired him to grow his racing interests. He purchased Silverdale Farm in 2009, and became fully invested in the racing game, serving as a board member of the ATC from 2014 to 2016. Around this time, Grant employed Petith, and along with advice from John Muir of Milburn Creek, they developed Silverdale Farm into a working bloodstock property. The first stakes winner off the farm was Rebel Dane's son Subterranean. The work culminated in Silverdale Farm's first yearling draft in 2021. All five of the yearlings offered in their inaugural draft at the Gold Coast are winners including Gr3-placed Pantonario. Gr3 winner Kaizad came from their second Inglis Classic Yearling Sale draft, and since then, Silverdale Farm have sold Gr1 winner Autumn Glow and Gr2 winner Eneeza, while their current 3YOs include Gr2-placed Prestige Snitzel and Gr3-placed Pure Passion. Autumn Glow was bred by Newhaven Park Stud and purchased as a weanling by Silverdale Farm for $600,000. Silverdale's education and raising methods turned that into a $1.8 million Easter Sale topping price, and Autumn Glow has lived up to that lofty expectation with eight wins and over $7 million in earnings. Eneeza, another seven figure yearling sale for Silverdale Farm, has earned more on track than she cost, and her three wins are all in stakes company led by the Gr2 Percy Sykes Stakes. Silverdale's pre-Christmas juvenile graduates from the 2025 yearling sales are led by Listed winner Paradoxium and Gr3-placed Masvingo. Silverdale Farm will present 16 yearlings at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, six at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, and they typically have a boutique draft for the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
