  • 2026 Tyreel Stud Vendor Profile

    Friday, 9th January 2026

With an exceptional reputation for raising and selling high-quality thoroughbreds, Tyreel Stud's ethos of nuturing a small, but select, broodmare band where the focus is on quality over quantity has paid dividends in recent years. Those those nurtured at the farm have gone on to perform exceptionally well at not only the major yearling sales, but prove extremely competitive at the elite level on the track, further reinforcing the farm's standing within the industry. Owned by Laurence and Linda Monds, the husband-and-wife team lead by example on the Agnes Banks-located farm with a very hands-on approach, ensuring their philosophy centres around developing deep insights into the individual needs of each horse, crafting tailored nutrition, handling and preparation plans with the support of experienced staff, specialist veterinarians and farriers. This personalised strategy aims to maximise each horse's potential, whether destined for the sales ring or the racetrack. "Our farm is relatively small (105 acres) when compared to many other thoroughbred breeding farms, but with this in mind, we're only able to raise small numbers each year, but our record speaks for itself when you look at our graduates," said Linda Monds. In recent years, Tyreel Stud's yearling graduates include the likes of Everest hero, multiple Group 2 winner and $9.3m earner Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt), triple Group 1 winner Behemoth (All Too Hard) who earned connections $3.2m, and Gr1 South Australian Derby-winning The Autumn Sun filly Coco Sun (see below) who won a little over $800,000 on the track before sold as a broodmare prospect for $1.2 million. Every Rose (Choisir), who was successful in the Gr3 Gimcrack Stakes on her 2YO debut before winning the Gr2 Light Fingers Stakes at 3, earned over $380,000 on the track, before being sold for $1.3m as a broodmare prospect. Kermadec mare Montefilia is another outstanding example of the quality graduates from the farm; having been offered as a weanling before offered once again as a yearling, she went on to secure four Group 1 victories and $4.5m in earnings, before being purchased as a broodmare prospect for $3.4m. While not all graduates are born at the farm, some yearling graduates are raised elsewhere but go through Tyreel Stud's rigorous yearling prep before heading to the sales, with the likes of Olentia, Pierossa, Parry Sound and Bases Loaded all securing stakes victories during their racing careers. With four yearlings in the last 11 years selling for $1m or more through various Tyreel Stud yearling sale drafts, pedigree and physique are two key constants which ensure the continual recognition of graduates in both the sale ring and on the track. In 2026, Tyreel Stud will once again be represented at all the major yearling sales with a draft of seven yearlings at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast, followed by eight at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale before ending with six at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
