  • 2026 Segenhoe Stud Vendor Profile

    Thursday, 8th January 2026

Exceptional vendor Segenhoe Stud is the current leader of the 2025/26 Black Type Vendor Premiership, thanks to yearling graduates like Horse Of The Year Pride Of Jenni, triple Gr1 winner Joliestar, and Transatlantic. Zarastro, Wodeton, Ancient Zero, Boston Rocks, In Good Order, Jenni The Fox, Ripley, Fermoy, Ornithology, San Giovanni, Hillier, and Navy Pilot all contributed Black Type points to this season's tally. Other recent Gr1 winners off the farm include Reserve Bank, In Secret, Ellsberg and King's Legacy. Segenhoe Stud carries one of the oldest names in the Hunter Valley. The original Segenhoe name came via British Member of Parliament Thomas Potter Macqueen who was born at Segenhoe Manor in Bedfordshire. He was granted 8100 hectares in the upper Hunter Valley in 1824. The farm was subdivided and the original homestead and buildings formed part of an 1100-hectare property which retained the name. Segenhoe became a working Thoroughbred farm in 1913 and has been operational since then under various ownership structures. One of the investors in the 1980s, Michael Sissian, sold out of his holdings, but retained the name, moving to the current property. In 2010, the current Segenhoe was purchased by Kevin Maloney who also bought the neighbouring farm to extend the operations into the current scope. General Manager Peter O'Brien worked for Coolmore for 25 years before taking on the reins at Segenhoe in 2014. Under his watch the farm has flourished, and the list of its high-profile sales and elite racetrack graduates continues to grow. "Segenhoe Stud's facilities and quality staff enable us to manage and care for our thoroughbred assets from birth through to their racing careers and then on to the breeding phase of their lives. Under the ownership of the Maloney family, we are continually developing a high-quality band of young stakes-winning Australian and international broodmares." Current 3YOs who have come through Segenhoe's sales drafts including group placed Hostility, Ornithology, San Giovanni, Fermoy, Hillier, Agent Zero, and Gr1 Golden Slipper-placed Wodeton. Segenhoe Stud will present 34 yearlings at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. The farm has a further 14 heading to the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and typically have a strong presence at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
