  • Fitness An Advantage in Rain For Funny Girl

    Wednesday, 15th September 2021

Trainer Lance Noble believes fitness will be the key for his 3YO filly Funny Girl (Showcasing-Triaction, by Elusive City) in Saturday's Gr3 Hawkes Bay Breeders' Gold Trail Stakes over 1200m, reports racingnews.co.nz. "She won well at Cambridge," Noble said about Funny Girl's first outing this spring. "She has had that run under her belt and there are probably a few horses that are going to go into the Gold Trail fresh. I think we will benefit if it is a little bit wetter, having had that run under our belt." Noble isn't bothered by Funny Girl's win coming on Cambridge's synthetic track. "She did perform well last season as a two-year-old (on the grass). She ran into a couple of good horses when she was placed at two. It will be a big step up for her but when you are an early three-year-old you don't know until you measure them up against the best that are around." Funny Girl was a $50,000 graduate from the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale, purchased by Cambridge Stud. She is the first foal of stakes placed winner Triaction (Elusive City) who is from the family of Gr1 winner Perfect Fit (Elusive City-Fayreform, by Tights).
