  • Superstorm Ready for Feehan Second Up

    Friday, 3rd September 2021

Expat WA galloper Superstorm (Sebring - Stormy Nova, by Metal Storm) looms as a key player in Saturday's Gr2 Feehan Stakes at The Valley with new trainer Danny O'Brien reporting further improvement following his withering debut run for the stable in the Gr2 Lawrence Stakes (1400m) first-up on August 14. According to racing.com, Superstorm galloped impressively at The Valley on Tuesday morning with O'Brien pleased with both his recovery from the Lawrence and his progression into the Feehan, "He hadn't raced since the Golden Eagle of last year and I thought he was terrific. He's come through it really well. He went to Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning, and he worked really nicely around The Valley. You'd expect improvement from him having not raced for so long." The additional 200m of the Feehan appears made to order given the manner in which he swallowed the ground in the closing stages of the Lawrence, with O'Brien acknowledging the same: "All his best form's at a mile, he's a better horse at a mile than he is at 1400. There's every expectation that at a mile, he'll be more effective." The market concurs and has the 5YO gelding sitting atop betting at $5 in the Feehan with champion jockey Damien Oliver to steer.
