    The Tasmanian Horse of the Year will be announced next month in Launceston, reported tasracing.com.au. There are three categories; Horse of the Year, 3YO of the Year, and 2YO of the Year. The contenders in the 2YO category are: Unbeaten dual Listed winner Turk Warrior (Outreach-Ehor, by Val Royal), Miss Charlie Brown (Myboycharlie-Red Fever, by Red Ransom) who won her first two starts, then finished second to Turk Warrior in the Listed Elwick Stakes, and unbeaten Alpine Wolf (Alpine Eagle-Copper Dancer, by West Quest). In the 3YO category, the contenders are: Tasmanian Guineas winner Swoop Dog (Husson-Swooper, by Black Hawk), Hela (Night of Thunder-Smooth Return, by Redoute's Choice) who won all of her seven starts in Tasmania this season before failing in the Gr1 SAJC Australasian Oaks, and War Correspondent (Time for War-Lady Writer, by Written Tycoon) who won five of his nine starts in the season. The contenders for Tasmanian Horse of the Year are Newhart (Fighting Sun-Jesting, by Commands) who won four of his six starts this season including the Devonport Cup and two Listed races; Still a Star (Toronado-Lita, by Casino Prince) who missed the spring then won the Gr3 Vamos Stakes before heading over to Melbourne for three starts including a Listed win and a Gr3 second, and the unbeaten 2YO Turk Warrior (Outreach-Ehor, by Val Royal).
