  • Sharp Possibilities for Homebred Stayer

    Tuesday, 24th August 2021

Trainer Michael Templeton is excited about the future of his young 3YO stayer Sharper (All Too Hard-Gypsy Whisper, by Statue of Liberty) after his win at Sale over 1530m on Sunday, reports racing.com. "From a young horse we've been pretty upbeat about his chances for the future," Templeton said. "Before today we had been riding him quiet and letting him find the line. We thought he'd learnt enough so that we could give him a chance to go forward and not ask him to unleash a real massive sprint (from the back of the field) and it's paid off. He's a three-year-old that likes a trip, we probably would be mad not to keep our options open and just give him a chance to put his hand up in one of those staying features through the spring." The win was Sharper's first victory from four starts, and second place went to VRC Derby bound Rhinoceros (Vadamos-Hot in Pink, by Lonhro). Templeton-bred Sharper, who is the second foal of his dam, who is a half-sister to Gr2 winner Whispering Brook (Hinchinbrook).
