  • Boss Gets His Spring Cups Incentive

    Thursday, 12th August 2021

Jockey Glen Boss has secured the ride on plum Cups hopeful Incentivise (Shamus Award) after winning a three-way jockey race. According to racenet.com.au, Boss will be in the hot saddle for the now Peter Moody-trained $7 Caulfield Cup favourite and again in the Melbourne Cup ($11). Other names were considered for the Incentivise ride such as Craig Williams and current champion Melbourne jockey Jamie Kah, along with some others, but after deliberation Boss got the nod. This was confirmed by Incentivise’s part-owner and former trainer Steve Tregea. Boss chose to ride in the Melbourne spring carnival ahead of the Sydney spring, but has yet to win the Caulfield Cup. Having won four Cox Plates, three Melbourne Cups and two Golden Slippers, he would complete a “Grand Slam” in Australian racing if he were to achieve a victory in the big Caulfield mile-and-a-half. Incentivise became Melbourne Cup favorite after a plethora of winter carnival wins during which he scored four Queensland outings by an aggregate 40-lengths. He will start his spring season in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on September 11.
