  • Spring Stakes Resumption for Dalasan

    Thursday, 5th August 2021

Third in his final two starts during the Autumn, finishing behind Cascadian (New Approach) in the Gr1 Doncaster Handicap and behind Addeybb (Pivotal) and Veery Elleegant (Zed) in the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas' 5YO stallion prospect Dalasan (Dalakahni-Khandallah, by Kitten's Joy) is likely to resume in the Gr3 Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on August 14. Second behind Gr1 winner Behemoth (All Too Hard) last year in the race, Dalasan is likely to follow a similar path to last year with his ultimate Spring aim being the Gr1 WS Cox Plate. "It's the same kick off for him this year,'' Gluyas told Racing SA. "He'll run in the Spring Stakes and then the Leon Macdonald (Stakes), we'll work it from there, but the Makybe Diva is the likely next outing for him." Bred by Mill Park Stud and sold at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $80,000, Dalasan's earnings currently sit just shy of $3m from his seven career wins, an impressive return in investment. With the likelihood that he will come back even stronger this time in, an elusive Gr1 victory could assure the Harry Perks and partners-raced stallion a home at stud upon his retirement from the track.
