  • Half-Brother To Gr1 Winner Invincibella Debuts

    Wednesday, 4th August 2021

Secured from the draft of Sledmere Stud for a little less than double what her half-sister Invincibella (I Am Invincible) was sold for as a yearling a few years prior, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Extreme Flight (Extreme Choice-Abscond, by Galileo) will make his debut at Cranbourne in the Frankston Sand Soil & Mini Mix 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m). From the first crop of Newgate Farm's recently crowned Champion First Season Sire Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt), the 3YO colt sits well in the market off the back of a recent Flemington jump out victory. With the services of leading jockey Jamie Kah, Extreme Flight is one of three unraced runners in the 10-horse field, with the Ben and JD Hayes-trained Sandy Prince (Pride Of Dubai-Sandy Desert, by Line In The Sand) looking set to break his maiden as the race favourite, having finishing second in all three starts to date. Another in the field that should be watched, at least on pedigree alone, is the James Cummings-trained Shirshov (Exosphere-Arctic Drift, by Gone West) who makes his debut. From a global black-type family, Shirshov is a half to Exceed And Excel stakes winners Agulhas and Kuroshio as well as the bluehen Believe'n'succed, who is in turn the dam of Gr1 Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck (Galileo) and Group 1-winning sprinting mare Bounding (Lonhro). Invincibella sold as a broodmare propsect last year for $1.3 million at the Magic Millions National Sale.
