  • Waller Breaks Own Season Record

    Monday, 2nd August 2021

Trainer Chris Waller ended the 2020/21 season with 339.5 wins, half a win better than his previous record set in 2018/19, reports loveracing.nz. The winner of 11 consecutive Sydney premierships, he broke his own record with So Wicked (Street Cry-So Pristine, by Zabeel) who won the third race on the card on Saturday at Randwick. That brought up the kiwi expact trainer's one hundred-and-sixty-eighth Sydney metropolitan win for the season. “I’m really proud of my team and that’s what makes it all worthwhile,” Waller said. “Through the COVID period, it hasn’t been an easy street and what these guys do for me, day in, day out, I just shake my head. It’s a lot of wins, a lot of city wins. We concentrate on city races more, we don’t run in the country and we’re proud of where we’re at.” So Wicked is a NZ-bred 7YO mare by the same sire as Waller’s star Winx (Street Cry-Vegas Showgirl, by Al Akbar). So Wicked has won seven of her 32 starts and almost $250,000, and she is bred and raced by David Paykel. Her dam, So Pristine, is a Gr2-winning half-sister to Listed winner Restored (Red Ransom).
