Starman (Zoustar-You're Dreamin, by Commands) headlines an interesting field in today's Vinery Stud Maiden 2YO Handicap over 110m at Kensington. Sold by Bowness Stud for $500,000 at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Starman is trained by Chris Waller and was a trial winner back in March. His dam is a city-winning half-sister to Listed winners Power of Pegasus (Palace Music) and Johnny Reb (Naturalism). Another interesting runner on debut is Wolf Warrior (Maurice-Felicienne, by Al Maher), who is the second foal of his Gr3 winning dam, from the family of Gr1 winner Nadeem (Redoute's Choice-Candide, by Sound Reason). Wolf Warrior was an $80,000 Inglis Classic Yearling graduate, and is from the first Australian crop of Maurice (Screen Hero-Mejiro Frances, by Carnegie) who has three stakes winners in his first Northern Hemisphere crop and six stakes-placed 2YOs from his first Australian crop. The early favourite is Have Mercy (American Pharoah-Blissful, by Lonhro) who is also on debut and was a $210,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate. Starman is the second favourite. Have Mercy is trained by Edward Cummings and is out of an unraced half-sister to Listed winner Related (Elusive Quality).
