  • True Detective to Solve Winter Challenge

    Friday, 23rd July 2021

Having finished second and third at his last two starts, both at Listed level over 1400m, the Chris Waller-trained True Detective (Shamus Award-Girls Rule, by Geiger Counter) looks right on track, and should prove hard to beat in Saturday's Listed Winter Challenge (1500m) with the additional rise in distance. Purchased for $100,000 by Performance Genetics LLC at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, the 4YO gelding has returned connection just shy of six times that initial yearling outlay, and as one of three equal favourites for Saturday's race, there looks an outstanding chance that his prizemoney will once again grow. Kerrin McEvoy has stuck  strong after riding the gelding into second behind Bandersnatch (Casino Prince) last start in the Listed Winter Stakes which is a good sign. The hardest to beat could be his stablemate Order Again (Iffraaj-Glass Half Full, by Van Nistelrooy), who finished just behind True Detective when taking third last start.
