  • Talented Nothdurft on Comeback Trail

    Wednesday, 21st July 2021

Last season's Brisbane Metropolitan Jockey Premiership winner Baylee Nothdurft has made steady progress after an enforced injury break last November, and he has been engaged to ride Kingston's Here (Rich Enuff-Britaila Kate, by Jet Spur) at Doomben today, reports racingqueensland.com.au. While apprenticed to Tony Gollan, Nothdurft was the first apprentice to win the metro jockey's premiership since Michael Rodd and Zac Purton twenty years ago. After ending up in hospital with dehydration last November, Nothdurft transferred to the Steve O'Dea and Matt Hoystead stable, and rides Kingston's Here for the stable today. "Baylee has done a lot of work for us around the stables and it was good to give him a winner again," Hoysted said. "Hopefully, Kingston's Here will be suited by the 1400 metres and will be up on the speed and run well." Kingston's Here has won two of his seven starts and placed on four other occasions, including a last start third at Doomben on July 10. Kingston's Here is the first foal of his city winning dam, who is a half-sister to two stakes placed winners.
