  • HMS Endeavour Ready for Irish Debut

    Wednesday, 21st July 2021

Valuable US-bred juvenile War Front colt HMS Endeavour will make his debut today in Ireland. Trained by Aidan O'Brien for Coolmore's partners, the exciting prospect is carded for the EBF Maiden for 2YOs at Naas. A son of US Champion Lady Eli (Divine Park) and War Front (Danzig), HMS Endeavour is a graduate of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale where he sold for US$385,000. Bred by Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings, his celebrated dam was a US$160,000 September yearling at the same sale, however her racetrack career saw her traded for multiples of that as a broodmare. Trained by super-successful trainer Chad Brown on behalf of Sheep Pond Partners, she earned close to US$3 million across four seasons, with her five elite victories buttressed by a 2.75-length success in the 2014 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Despite that precocity, she returned the next season to take out the Gr1 Appalachian Stakes and Belmont Oaks Invitational before her 4YO scalps included victory in the Gr1 Flower Bowl, augmented by a runner-up in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Not done with yet, the subsequent US$4.2 million seller at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale won both the Gr1 Gamely Stakes and Gr1 Diana Stakes as a 5YO. With most of Lady Eli's victories on turf, there's every reason to expect HMS Endeavour to perform likewise.
