Portelli Heads South With Spaceboy

Making a hit and run raid recently to Melbourne with 2YO colt Royalzel (Snitzel) to claim the Listed Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m), trainer Gary Portelli will send noted short course specialist Spaceboy (Deep Field-Miatoko, by Danzero) down to Flemington from his Warwick Farm base to commence his campaign. With four wins and 12 placed efforts from his 23 starts to date, the 4YO's earnings sit at over $400,000 and with a very solid first up record of five top two finishes from six starts, connections would be looking to increase their bank balance come Saturday. Purchased from the Aquis Farm draft for $200,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Spaceboy has been allocated 61 kilos for his first up run, and although he is yet to race at Flemington, his form over the 1000m, the distance of Saturday's race, suggests the gelding should be able to play a role in the finish.
