  • Golden Sixty Dominates HKJC Awards Night

    Unbeaten in seven starts this season, Golden Sixty (Medaglia d’Oro-Gaudeamus, by Distorted Humor) was crowned Horse of the Year for the 2020/21 season, reports hkjc.com. He also collected the Champion Miler, Champion Middle-Distance Horse, and Most Popular Horse of the Year awards. Golden Sixty has done all his racing in Hong Kong where he is the winner of 17 of his 18 starts since making his debut in March 2019. Previously he was crowned Champion 4YO and Most Popular Horse of the Year last season in 2019/20, and among his seventeen wins are four Group 1 triumphs, all of which were in his last four starts: Gr1 Champions Mile, Gr1 Hong Kong Gold Cup, Gr1 Stewards’ Cup, and Gr1 Hong Kong Mile. Golden Sixty now has astronomical earnings of HK$77,925,600 (A$13,467,629). Initially sold as a yearling by Element Hill at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $120,000, he was then on-sold as a 2YO at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run sale to trainer Francis Lui for $300,000.
