  • Whatafox Set for Taj Rossi Series Final

    Thursday, 1st July 2021

Stepping up to the 1600m for the first time, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Whatafox (Foxwedge-Whatalovelyday, by Domesday) should relish the trip of Saturday’s Listed Taj Rossi Series Final at Flemington. A narrow second over 1300m last time out, the Blueblood Thoroughbreds syndicated filly will jump from barrier 1 with Michael Dee in the saddle and with her dam being Group 2-placed over 2000m from the family of Gr1 Australian Guineas winner Light Fantastic (Danehill Dancer) and Gr1 New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv (Deputy Governor), the distance rise should be of no concern. Won last year by the Patrick Payne-trained Cherry Tortoni (Night Of Thunder), who has gone on to recorded multiple stakes performances, the race has produced some high-class gallopers in the past, and the quality of the 2021 field indicates we’re likely to see the same moving forward.
