  • Busuttin Aims Savabeel 2YO At Derby

    Thursday, 1st July 2021

Co-trainer Trent Busuttin believes Celestial Fury (Savabeel-Sister Celeste, by Galileo) will be a Derby horse next season and will test his ability in Saturday's Listed Taj Rossi Series Final Handicap over 1600m at Flemington, reports racingnews.co.nz. "He has improved off his first up win," Busuttin told RSN927. "The way he won, he has still got natural improvement in him, I think he will race a bit smarter. It is a good, solid field for a 1600m juvenile race. I will be disappointed if he doesn't go close. Hopefully he runs well and then he will go to the paddock for a little break and aim towards those staying features for 3YOs." Celestial Fury won his only start over 1420m at Flemington two weeks ago, and the 2YO colt was purchased by Busuttin and his training partner Natalie Young at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run sale for NZ$120,000 from the draft of Riverrock Farm. Celestial Fury's year older half-sister is Group 1-placed winner Kelly Renee (Vespa).
