  • Ten Irish 1,000 Guineas Wins for O'Brien

    Tuesday, 25th May 2021

Trainer Aidan O'Brien won his tenth Tattersalls Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas over the weekend with 3YO filly Empress Josephine (Galileo-Lillie Langtry, by Danehill Dancer) with stablemate Joan of Arc (Galileo-You'resothrilling, by Storm Cat) in second, reports racingpost.com. "She's able to quicken and Seamus gave her a lovely ride," said O'Brien. "She's very classy. She might go for the Coronation Stakes, but we'll see what the lads want to do. She's a sister to Minding and the second filly is a sister to Gleneagles so they are both beautifully bred fillies. We were going to step Joan Of Arc up to ten furlongs after today and she might go for the French Oaks." Empress Josephine is a full-sister to European Horse of the Year and seven-time Group 1 winner Minding, as well as Group 3 winner Kissed by Angels. Their dam, Lillie Langtry (Danehill Dancer-Hoity Toity, by Darshaan) is a dual Group 1 winner who was crowned Joint Champion 3YO Filly Miler in Great Britain. Empress Josephine brought her record to two wins and a second from four starts with earnings of €249,900.
