Trainer Troy Corstens will spell his impressive debut winner New York Baby (Written Tycoon-Shadow Doll, by Dane Shadow) and set her for the spring, reports racing.com. The 2YO filly won the $100,000 VOBIS Gold Strike at Warrnambool on Tuesday for her large syndicate of owners. "Credit goes to Ollie, he was really keen to run her. I think she needs to put on another 40-50kg and (then) I do think she's a really good filly," Corstens said, referring to jockey Damien Oliver who rode New York Baby. "She will go straight to the paddock. I always said to the guys that no matter what she does today she will be going to the paddock. I was hoping she would do that and we got it right today." A $75,000 yearling at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale from the draft of Sledmere Stud, she is the second foal and second winner for her winning dam who is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Mirjulisa Lass (Danasinga-Dol, by Dolphin Street). Add New York Baby's name to the black-book.
