Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice-Singles Bar, by Rory’s Jester) has reacted emphatically to the challenge thrown out by erstwhile Arrowfield Stud stablemate Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) for the lead on the Australian General Sires table. No sooner had Written Tycoon – now heading to Yulong – got his nose in front, than Not A Single Doubt marginally reversed that situation before delivering a hammer blow in last Saturday’s Gr1 Robert Sangster Stakes (TAB Classic) over 1200m at Morphettville. Highly progressive 3YO filly Instant Celebrity (Not A Single Doubt-Celebrity Girl, by Starcraft) sat in the second half of the field before jockey Craig Williams found clear air to deliver trainer Phillip Stokes and South Australian owner-breeders Trevor and Beth Robertson with a priceless elite victory. It was the fifth win for the Mill Park-raised filly whose other two runs from just seven starts include a placing in the Gr1 MRC Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield last year. Closely related to Group 1 Hong Kong performer Happy Healthy who raced as Leviathan in Australia, Instant Celebrity is out of dual stakes-winner Celebrity Girl, a Group-placed daughter of Group 2-placed stakes winner Dashing Granada who also finished fourth in both the Gr1 VRC Oaks and the Gr1 VATC Thousand Guineas. Meanwhile, it’s back to the drawing board for Written Tycoon who now faces a new deficit of $152,000 with three months of the season to run.
