    Monday, 12th April 2021

A beautifully bred full-sister to Gr2 MRC Autumn Classic heroine Parure (Fastnet Rock-Fontein Ruby, by Turffontein) is poised for her first racetrack start at Mornington on Tuesday. Sold by Coolmore Stud for $700,000 to Lindsay Park Racing and Andrew Williams Bloodstock, Carmen Lucia is trained by Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes, and will have Jye McNeil in the irons. Quoted at around $10 from barrier 13 for Race 3, the tbsc.com.au Maiden Plate (1200m), Carmen Lucia is one of three named foals (all by Fastnet Rock (Danehill-Piccadilly Circus, by Royal Academy) out of multiple Group-winning mare Fontein Ruby. She is a half-sister to Gr1 Thorndon Mile winner The Mitigator (Master of Design), and also closely related to dual Gr1 Cox Plate and Gr1 Futurity Stakes victor Fields of Omagh (Rubiton), Group 1-placed Group winner Malcolm and Group 1-placed Group winner Infinite Grace (Prince of Birds).
