  • Size Sizzles the Hong Kong Derby Undercard

    Tuesday, 23rd March 2021

Trainer John Size didn't win the Hong Kong Derby on Sunday, but two young stable stars emerged on the undercard, reports scmp.com. Sent out at $1.15, Courier Wonder (Sacred Falls-Fabulist, by Savabeel) remained unbeaten while winning the Class Three Designs On Rome Handicap over 1200m by 3-lengths. "He looks like he's going somewhere so we'll look after him and let him do the job," Size said. He'll run again this season provided he pulls up all right and everything is in order with him. I don't think there are any problems with him." The $150,000 graduate of the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale has now won both his starts. Size's other impressive winner was the 3YO Fantastic Way (Swiss Ace-Funhouse, by Mossman) who won the Class Three Luger Handicap over 1200m to also remain unbeaten in his three starts. "He had to do a bit of work today, it was a good test for him," Size said. "He didn't have an easy time of it and he didn't shirk the task at all. He was still strong on the line. I'll have a look at him now, he's been in work for a while so he might be due for a break." In the Hong Kong Derby, meanwhile, Size had three runners, the best of whom was Excellent Proposal (Exceed and Excel-Procrastination, by Pivotal). He ran on for fourth place and impressed his trainer with his bravery.
