Racing at Launceston on Wednesday night saw the Adam Trinder-trained Miss Tuppence (Capitalist-Starlevie, by Fasliyev) become the seventh individual first crop winner for her Newgate Farm-based sire Capitalist (Written Tycoon-Kitalpha, by Fusaichi Pegasus) with a facile 2.75-length victory over 1120m. Purchased for $70,000 at the 2020 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Supreme Thoroughbreds, Miss Tuppence was having just her second start after finishing third on debut, where she gained valuable black-type behind the unbeaten Turk Warrior (Outreach) in the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m). With six winners in Australia and one in New Zealand, Capitalist's first crop have hit the ground running, highlighted by the unbeaten Profiteer, a short-priced favourite to go three from three when he contests Saturday's Gr2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick for trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr.
