  • Redoute's Connects the Black-Type Dots

    Tuesday, 23rd February 2021

The premature passing of multiple champion sire and star racehorse Redoute’s Choice (Danehill-Shantha’s Choice, by Canny Lad) might have been interpreted as a swansong of sorts for the influential Arrowfield stallion, however nothing could be further from the truth. With arguably his greatest son, The Autumn Sun’s first yearlings due to debut in 2022, plus the likes of Alabama Express and – later – King’s Legacy still to come, Redoute’s Choice is currently also a top four performer on the 2020-2021 BTP Sires table and one Group winner away from being top three. Boasting 39 individual Group 1 winners and 112 stakes-winners to date, there’s also this: he is already the broodmare sire of an astonishing 19 individual Group 1 winners including last Saturday’s Blue Diamond hero Artorius (Flying Artie-Gracie’s Lass). Over the past weekend alone, he additionally appeared as the broodmare sire of stakes-winner Sacremento and Gr1 Futurity runner-up Arcadia Queen (both by Pierro), whilst three stallions that sired black-type winners over the weekend – Zoustar, Sacred Falls and My Admiration – are all out of Redoute’s Choice mares. There are nine rare Redoute’s Choice yearlings catalogued for Inglis Easter – four in the Arrowfield draft – at Riverside Stables, including a Bhima Thoroughbreds-consigned colt out of Aintnofallin’star (dam of ridiculously talented Ain’tnodeeldun) who has also been catalogued for the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale which starts at Oaklands Junction on Sunday.
