  • Group 1 Winner Run Fox Run Retired

    Thursday, 18th February 2021

Successful in her most recent outing where she was simply too classy for her rivals in the Gr1 Cape Flying Championship at Kenilworth, South Africa, the connections of Australian-bred Run Fox Run (Foxwedge-Victory Cry, by General Nediym) have pulled down the curtain on her racing career with the Ridgemont Highlands raced mare set to transfer to her owners’ Barnane Stud in County Tipperary, Ireland, where the Mill Park Stud yearling sale graduate is destined for a first covering with Juddmonte Stud’s star stallions Frankel or Kingman. A winner of eight of her 11 starts, the Brett Crawford trained speedster was secured at the Inglis Easter yearling sale for $420,000 back in 2017 and has been one of South Africa’s most talented race mares ever since. Ridgemont Highland’s Craig Kieswetter paid tribute to Run Fox Run by saying, “Run Fox Run is a beautifully bred athletic mare and has nothing more to prove on the track. She has given us so much pleasure and we could not have scripted her final Cape appearance better. Bowing out with a dazzling Grade 1 victory on Met day was the cherry on the top.” A half-sister to the Listed-winning, Gr3-placed Guard Of Honour (Northern Meteor), it is also the family of Gr1 Thousand Guineas winner Serious Speed (Royal Academy) and the stakes-winning sprinters Reldas (Testa Rossa) and Victory Chant (General Nediym).
