  • Votes Boost South Australian Hopes In All Star Mile

    Thursday, 11th February 2021

One of the beauties of the All Star Mile is that a community of owners can rally together and vote their horse into a spot in the race, and South Australia's Italian community have done just that with Regalo Di Gaetano (Supreme Class-Regalina, by Regal Shot), reports racing.com. Only two days ago, the 5YO gelding had 1365 votes, but a plea to the owner's friends has seen a boost in votes to 4805 putting the Richard Jolly trained galloper into seventh spot. Regalo Di Gaetano might be paying $101 with Sportsbet at the moment, but punters shouldn't overlook the galloper who has won eight races, including the Listed John Letts Cup, from 21 starts. Last start, he ran fourth in the Listed Durbridge Stakes behind dual Gr1 winner Behemoth (All Too Hard-Penny Banger, by Zedrich) and he will run on Saturday in the SAJC Winning Edge Presentation Handicap over 1300m. Voting for the All Star Mile at The Valley closes at midnight on Sunday but voting goes into blackout from this Friday at 10pm. The 10 top vote-getters are announced on February 19 with Racing Victoria to later name the wildcard runners with the Futurity and Blamey Stakes winners to go through, leaving three wildcards to be handed out. The race will be run on March 13. Currently leading the votes is Western Australian runner Arcadia Queen (Pierro-Arcadia, by Redoute's Choice) with 8,869 votes.
