  • Substantial Newgate Punt Pays off Big Time

    Monday, 8th February 2021

This year's Inglis Millennium hero Profiteer was bred by SF Bloodstock, Matthew Sandblom's Blake Sandblom P/L and Winstar Farm. In a significant result for supplier Newgate Farm, they purchased the colt back during the week for a reported multi-million dollar sum. Should he continue on his winning way in months to come, he will stand as a stallion at Newgate alongside his sire Capitalist upon retirement. "I've watched a lot of races over a lot of years but I've never been more nervous on a racetrack than I was today,'' Newgate's Henry Field confessed. "There was a lot on the line, we'd have looked like fools if he flopped [after the purchase] but Hugh Bowman told me he was a very good horse, [trainer] Mick Price told me he was a very good horse and [ratings expert] Daniel O'Sullivan told me he was a very good horse so it's very relieving to see him do what he did. Newgate will offer a draft of 30 at the Classic Sale.
