Kayla Crowther has collected her second Dux Award at Racing SA's 2020 TAB Apprentice Academy Awards night, reports racingsa.com.au. The awards had been scheduled for last November but were postponed to this week due to COVID-19 restrictions. Crowther rode 103 winners in the 2019/20 season and outrode her apprentice claim in June last year. Other winners included the SA Jockey Association award for Master of the Dux to Crowther's former boss David Jolly; Best Winning Strike Rate and the Minister for Racing-Endeavour and Sportsmanship Award went to Jessica Eaton; The Caitlin Forrest Memorial Award for an apprentice who shows true drive, dedication, and talent went to Margaret Collett; the Simone Montgomerie Encouragement Award to Scarlet So. Other winners included Lizzie Annells (SA Racehorse Owners Association Award), Ben Price (The Advertiser Media Award), Libby Halliday (Longest Priced Winner, $91, Benovsky (New Approach-Slovakia, by Danzig) at Mount Gambier) and Jacob Opperman (Rising Star – Junior Apprentice Award). Lachlan Neindorf's 85 winners – he is now based in Victoria – was enough to clinch the Most Winners in an Academy Year award.
