  • Not an Anomaly For Real Impact

    Friday, 29th January 2021

Young sire Real Impact (Deep Impact-Tokio Reality, by Meadowlake) gained his first winner in Hong Kong when The Anomaly (Real Impact-Lovely Rita, by Deputy Governor) won on debut on Wednesday night, reported scmp.com. "Winning was a little bit of a surprise but I thought he would run well," trainer Jimmy Ting said of the horse who paid 63-1 in Hong Kong and 300-1 in Australia. "This race wasn't very strong – only two or three horses had chances, the others were so-so. He had a good draw and before the race I thought he would run third, fourth, fifth – something like that. So it was a bit of a surprise, but I knew he had the ability – he is a good horse. I think his best distance will be a mile, he's a nice horse." It was the first time in Ting's two and a half season Hong Kong training career that he'd won with a horse on debut. The Anomaly was sold by Two Bays Farm at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $46,000 to Jadeskye Racing and Brad Widdup Racing. Gr1 winner Real Impact shuttled to Arrowfield Stud for a couple of seasons, and he has left Japanese Gr1 winner Lauda Sion (Real Impact-Antiphona, by Songandaprayer) in his first Northern Hemisphere crop.
