Value With A Capital V
Dual Gr1-winning Adelaide graduate Viddora (pic: Mark Gatt)

As much as it might sound like a broken record, Magic Millions' Adelaide Yearling Sale never ceases to amaze when it comes to producing top-line racehorses at value prices. South Australia’s reigning Horse of the Year Viddora (I Am Invincible) sold at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale in 2014. Winner of the Gr1 AJ Moir Stakes, Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes, and seven other races, Viddora has clocked up earnings of over $2.7million.

Other recent Gr1 graduates from this sale include Amphitrite (Sebring), Hucklebuck (Elvstroem), and Capital Gain (Ad Valorem). Gr1 Blue Diamond-placed 2YO Free of Debt looks like he might well join this list soon. Many more graduates from this sale have picked up valuable black type, boosting their residual value, and the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale continues to prove itself as a good hunting ground for good judges.

The 2019 catalogue consists of 523 lots, with a record 139 individual sires represented. Among them are 24 freshman sires, such as Exosphere, Free Eagle, Headwater, Kermadec, Night of Thunder, Nostradamus, No Ney Never, Panzer Division, Press Statement, Pride of Dubai, Ready for Victory, Real Impact, Rich Enuff, Scissor Kick, Spill the Beans, Super One, Trust in a Gust, Valentia, and Vancouver.

Rapidly merging sires Zoustar, Spirit of Boom, Brazen Beau, All Too Hard, Dundeel, Epaulette, and Rebel Raider all have progeny in this sale, while there is plenty of choice for buyers wanting stock by proven sires such as Bel Esprit, Casino Prince, Choisir, Dawn Approach, Holy Roman Emperor, I Am Invincible, Not a Single Doubt, Pentire, Sebring, So You Think, Starspangledbanner, and Tavistock.

Many of the yearlings catalogued are nominated for a range of bonus schemes, including 225 BOBS eligible, 157 Super VOBIS nominated and 164 SABOIS Breeder Paid.

The Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale will take place on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 March, 2019 at Morphettville.
