  • Prebble To Partner Brooklyn Hustle

    Tuesday, 14th September 2021

In form Melbourne-based jockey Brett Prebble has secured himself another outstanding Group 1 ride when highly talented Gr2-winning Brooklyn Hustle (Starspangledbanner-Joint Aspiration, by Pivotal) resumes in the Gr1 Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 24. The Jason Warren and Dean Krongold-trained mare scored one of the biggest wins of her career last campaign when taking out the Gr2 Dane Ripper Stakes – see below – but disappointed at her next start in the Gr1 Tatts Tiara behind Tofane (Ocean Park). Since winning a barrier trial by a length at Cranbourne, the mare with the super star looks will be chasing her first elite level score after nine attempts at Group 1 level, with her best efforts to date coming when she finished fourth in the Moir Stakes, Manikato Stakes and Oakleigh Plate in consecutive runs last Spring. “It would be really nice to get that Group 1 next to her name,” Warren acknowledged. “She’ll probably just have the one trial before the Moir as she’s got some really good residual fitness from spelling in Queensland and being in pre-training up there.” The option has always been to send Brooklyn Hustle to Perth for the Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes in November as it’s a race considered very ‘winnable’ by connections, who would likely be unable to make the trip due to the current Covid restrictions. “It’s a nice option as far as the Group 1s go, but I don’t know how we’ll go getting into Western Australia,” Warren said.
