Buckle up, because here we go again. Into the second week of September, and what may have been a lightly flowing stream of equine talent is quickly turning into a deluge. Although the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) on a mouth-watering program at Flemington clearly holds Black Type seniority, less than an hour earlier a magnificent renewal of the Gr2 Run To The Rose (1200m) will be contested at Kembla Grange. Jam-packed with proven Group 1 class 3YOs and gun emerging contemporaries, it's likely to prove one of the best form guides for the remainder of the year. Despite the depth of the field, one juvenile who wouldn't be out of place in the Run To The Rose field field, but who will start in Listed company in Melbourne instead, is Artorius (Flying Artie). The Gr1 Blue Diamond winner of 2021 made his seasonal return on 28 August in the Gr3 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes (1200m) where he finished runner-up with strong closing sectionals. Artorius should devour the 1400m where he'll appreciate the long straight too and looks, like Ingratiating (see earlier item), to be one of the bets of the day.
