  • Laverrod Ready for Melbourne Campaign

    Thursday, 9th September 2021

Co-trainer Sean Casey will give Laverrod (Toronado-Demesheen, by Fastnet Rock) one start on September 25 at Belmont before sending him east for the spring, reports rwwa.com.au. "He'll start in the Black Heart Bart Stakes (1200m) and then go across to Melbourne," Casey said. "There are a host of races we can pick out and those VOBIS races he can go in go right through to January. It's a case of when he goes not if, but after the Black Heart Bart Stakes, he is off to Melbourne." Laverrod won his last two starts in the autumn in Melbourne including the Listed Hareeba Stakes, and his full record is seven wins from 22 starts and over $640,000. Joining Laverrod on the trip will be stablemate and Mornington Guineas winner Dom To Shoot (Shooting to Win-Princess Rouge, by Pins). "He's back in work now after a minor accident," Casey said. "He had a little cut on his leg but he couldn't fly. That's probably another reason why we delayed Laverrod in going across. We wanted to wait for Dom To Shoot to fully recover. It's a long way to go over with just the one horse." Dom To Shoot has won four of his 16 starts and over $500,000.
