  • Guineas Aim for Taunting

Trainer Michael Hickmott hopes to get a guide on 3YO colt Taunting (Brazen Beau-Probationary, by Northern Meteor) this Saturday at The Valley over 1200m, reports racing.com. "I'm looking forward to kicking him off next Saturday and getting a better idea about where he fits in this spring," Hickmott said. "At this stage, there are a few different options for him so his performance on Saturday, as well as Brett Prebble's feedback, will be telling as to what path we look to take. Aside from his ability, the horse's greatest asset is his mind and his ability to relax. We've gone forward on the horse at his last two starts due to track conditions but I think he'll be a much better horse ridden with cover. Both Jess (Eaton) and I were extremely pleased with his trial on Friday." Taunting holds a nomination for the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas in October. He won two of his three starts as a 2YO, and recently trialled on Friday. He was a $230,000 graduate from the Flinders Park Stud draft at the Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale.
