With New Zealand racing postponed again as the country battles its own growing Delta outbreak of COVID-19, Australian racing is in the fortunate position that it is able to continue. Following Sydney's opening seasonal Group 1 race wit the Winx Stakes (1400m) last weekend, Melbourne has its opening equivalent on Saturday when Bohemeth (All Too Hard) will attempt to defend his Gr1 Memsie Crown. If he does, it will also provide the physically imposing gelding with a unique Spring Stakes-Memsie Stakes double double (it's not a typo). With 3YOs among those being considered for remaining slots in the $15 million The Everest, the return of three of last season's Group 1-winning 2YOs is eagerly awaited. Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside (Extreme Choice), Blue Diamond winner Artorious (Flying Artie) and Champagne Stakes winner Captivant (Capitalist) – all graduates of the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale – return to the track following their winter breaks. Whilst every effort is made to ensure information and the below race times (in Australian Eastern Time order) are accurate, please consult official race cards if certainty is required.
