  • Four For Clarken in Adelaide Feature

    Thursday, 26th August 2021

South Australia's Will Clarken stable will saddle up a quartet of contestants in Saturday's Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes at Morphettville, with two of his runners currently battling out race favouritism. Crossing the line in first position last start in the Gr3 Spring Stakes, before being demoted into second position behind Gr1 winner Behemoth (All Too Hard), the highly talented Beau Rossa (Unencumbered-My Choisir, by Choisir) is the in form runner in the field, while Clarken's topweight Ironclad (Dubawi-Heat Haze, by Green Desert) will be out to continue his unbeaten Australian run, having won all four of his local starts, as well as his two barrier trials. With multiple Gr1-winning South African jockey Callan Murray to partner the 6YO Australian Bloodstock raced gelding, it would be a great boost for the new Adelaide hoop with this Saturday being his first day in the saddle since arriving in Australia this time around. Not surprisingly, the third favourite in the race, also from the Clarken yard, is last start Caulfield winner Second Slip (Alamosa-Scarlet O'Hara, by Fast 'n' Famous), a winner of five of his last seven starts, while Clarken's fourth runner is the former Perth-based mare Specialism (Safeguard-Clarecastle, by Tribu) who has only had three runs for the stable, recording a win and two third placed performances.
