  • Superstorm Hoping for Cox Plate Certainty

    Tuesday, 24th August 2021

Prodigiously successful WA owner Bob Peters has decided to shuffle the deck and reserve talented gelding Superstorm (Sebring - Stormy Nova, by Metal Storm) from this Saturday's Gr1 Memsie Stakes in favour of potential automatic Gr1 Cox Plate qualification via the Gr2 Feehan Stakes (September 4) at Moonee Valley. According to thewest.com.au, with Peters already saddling up ultra-talented Gr1 Railway Stakes winner Inspirational Girl (Reliable Man-Be Inspired, by Zabeel) in the Memsie, in which she will debut for trainer Danny O'Brien, Peters is blessed with options and added depth to his decision. “[Both Inspirational Girl and Superstorm] are very good at the moment." he explained. "We’ll only run one in the Memsie. It’s been a fair while since Inspirational Girl last raced, so she’ll probably need the run like Superstorm did [in the Gr3 Lawrence Stakes]." Superstorm was the eye-catching performer in the Lawrence Stakes when dashing home from tenth at the 800m to whittle the margin to a 1.55-length fourth and looms as a huge chance in the Feehan in just under two weeks' time.
