First Winner For Gr1 Winner Majmu

Initially purchased by Angus Gold on behalf of Shadwell Stud at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $300,000 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, Majmu (Redoute’s Choice x Spontaneous, by Hussonet) was sent to South Africa where she was crowned the Champion Filly of her generation at two and went on to capture wins in the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas and the Gr1 Empress Club Stakes under the care of Champion trainer Mike de Kock at three. Sent to Europe after her racing career ended, as is the case with most of Shadwell Stud’s stakes-winning fillies and mares who raced in South Africa, Majmu was represented by an impressive debut winner overnight at Chepstow when her second foal, Mujtaba (Dubawi x Majmu, by Redoute’s Choice) scored by an emphatic four and a quarter length margin over 1600m for trainer William Haggas. As the first winner for Majmu to date, her first foal, the 4YO Al Ulaa (Muhaarar) has raced on two occasions, while the current 2YO is an unraced Frankel colt named Fahmaan.
