Exciting Campaign Ahead for Written Beauty

It can often be a challenge when 3YOs turn four and they need to step up to compete within open company, and one such runner is Hawkes Racing's exciting sprinting mare Written Beauty (Written Tycoon-Beauty World, by Danehill Dancer) who is down to resume in Saturday's Gr3 Toy Show over 1100m at Royal Randwick. A winner of five of her eight starts including the Gr3 Red Roses down the Flemington straight, the last two starts of Written Beauty's Autumn campaign were somewhat disappointing at face value when she stepped up to tackle the older horses, but with two quality barrier trial wins under her belt in readiness for Saturday, connections, including owners Orbis Bloodstock, would be looking forward to a positive showing from the mare who has never finished outside of the top two in any of her three first up runs. In a very wide-open contest, with 19 acceptances, the current race favourite is the New Zealand-based Entriviere (Tavistock-Marcey's Belt, by Golan), with the Jamie Richards-trained multiple stakes-winning 5YO having been given the 'visitor's draw' of 19 and also under a possible injury cloud. With most of the field racing first-up, one that could be a good chance at odds is the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Villami, with the daughter of Foxwedge set to improve from her first up third over 5 weeks ago in the Gr3 Sir John Monash Stakes at Caulfield.
