  • Savabeel's Close Relation to Debut

    Wednesday, 18th August 2021

Purchased from the draft of Baramul Stud for $350,000 by Mulcaster Bloodstock from the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the Chris Waller trained River Snitty (Snitzel-Savannah River, by Encosta de Lago) will make his debut on Wednesday in the Vinery Stud Handicap (1250m) on the Kensington track at Randwick. One of three Waller runners in the field led by the race favourite and $1.15m yearling purchase Greater Harlem (Hinchinbrook-Harlem Heat, by Xaar), River Snitty is the outsider of the trio, but with four barrier trials under his belt to get the 3YO ready for his debut, the well-related colt should be ready to run a solid race. Out of a half-sister to New Zealand's multiple Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), a winner of the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes and Gr1 WS Cox Plate, and Gr1-performed Arlington (Red Ransom) it is also the family of Gr1 winners Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars) and Savannah Success (Success Express). Set to have the services of Kerrin McEvoy on Wednesday, River Snitty is a half-sister to the six-time winner Maddi Rocks (Fastnet Rock), who was trained by the Waller stable earlier in her career.
