  • Cummings Looks to Younger Stars for Everest

    Wednesday, 18th August 2021

Trainer James Cummings is leaning towards running one of his star 3YOs in Godolphin’s Everest slot, according to racing.com. “Of our older horses, we’ve got Trekking there who is a weight-for-age performer but unfortunately for him, Kementari has won more races than him in the past 12 months,” Cummings said. “On account of that, we’re most likely going to be tossing one of the 3YOs up as an option. I can foresee it’s possible that we don’t run our best horse in the race but it could be the case that if we do run a 3YO then it might be that opportunity to blood the horse for next year. Cummings noted, “There’s something to be said for that because I think a few of these 3YOs are capable of training on as 4YOs.” Of Godolphin’s potential runners, Gr1 ATC Sires’ Produce winner Anamoe (Street Boss-Anamato, by Redoute’s Choice) is the most favoured of Godolphin’s runners at $11, however, he is being aimed at the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas. Three runners are currently at $26; last start Gr3 Vain Stakes winner Ingratiating (Frosted-Obsequious, by Lonhro), recent Listed Rosebud Stakes winner Paulele (Dawn Approach-Chatoyant, by Flying Spur), and older mare and Gr1 Canterbury Stakes winner Savatiano (Street Cry-Retsina, by Redoute’s Choice). Trekking (Street Cry-Outdoor, by Redoute’s Choice) is seen as unlikely by the market at $34.
