  • First Foal For Rosehill Guineas Hero D'Argento

    Thursday, 12th August 2021

Chris Waller's gallant grey D'Aregnto, successful in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas during his classic season, retired to John North's Bowness Stud to commence his stud career, and it was great to see the Young-based farm has produced his first foal by the impressive looking son of So You Think. Raced by Star Thoroughbreds, where the $135,000 Magic Millions yearling purchase triumphed on four occasions, taking his earnings to over $1.1 million, D'Argento covered a strong book of 152 mares at a fee of $16,500 in his first season. One of the first mares he covered last year on September 1 was the Encosta de Lago mare Purple Blood and, rightfully so, she foaled a quality colt, the first of the season for D'Argento. The black foal, who is sure to go grey in the years to come, is a half-brother to Gr3 winner Sookie (Casino Prince), the dam of Gr1 Rosehill Guineas and Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Shadow Hero (Pierro), from the family of Gr1 Sires' Produce Stake and Gr1 Champagne Stakes winner Victory Vein (Mr. Henrysee).
